Billing Terms
Lunch Plan billing, plainly.
A Lunch Plan is a weekly subscription for school lunches. Here is exactly how the billing works — no fine print, because there isn’t any.
What a Lunch Plan is
A Lunch Plan orders your child’s school lunches every week so you don’t have to. Each Friday morning we place next week’s order from the plan you saved and charge your card for it. You can also keep ordering week by week instead — a plan is optional, and nothing about ordering manually changes.
When you’re charged
Once a week, on Friday morning Eastern time, for the school week that starts the following Monday. One charge per week, for that week’s meals and add-ons.
If we haven’t published a menu for that week yet, nothing is ordered and nothing is charged.
What the amount is
The plan is not a flat fee. Each week is priced from that week’s menu at the same prices as ordering manually: small $10, large $14 unless the menu says otherwise, plus whatever add-ons you’ve chosen, plus any sales tax.
The amount changes when the menu prices change, when a week is short (a holiday week serves fewer days, so you pay for fewer days), or when you change your plan.
If your plan covers every day the menu offers that week, the 10% Select All discount is applied automatically — including on short weeks.
Sales tax
Sales tax is added on top of your order, the same way it is at a restaurant. The menu prices are the prices — tax is its own line you can see at checkout, on your receipt, and in your order history.
Tax is charged on the whole order after any discount: the meals, your add-ons, and a late-order premium if there is one. Each order keeps the rate that was in effect the day it was placed, so a later rate change never reaches back and re-bills an order you already have.
If you cancel a meal, the tax you paid on it comes back with it.
How add-ons repeat
When you add something like a cookie to your plan, you choose how often it repeats: once per week, once per school day, or one in each lunch. Your plan shows you the resulting weekly quantity and cost before you save it, so there’s no guessing.
Pausing and stopping
You can pause your plan for a date range — a school break, a vacation, the summer — and it will skip any week that overlaps those dates, then resume on its own.
You can turn the plan off entirely at any time from your account. There is no cancellation fee, no minimum number of weeks, and no phone call required.
Changes take effect for any week that hasn’t been ordered yet. Once Friday’s order has been placed, that week is already in the kitchen — see below.
Cancelling a meal
Plans change — a sick day, a field trip. Cancel any single day up to 24 hours before that meal is delivered, and the money goes back to the card you paid with. Card refunds take 5–10 business days to appear, depending on your bank.
You can cancel one day without touching the rest of the week, and the days you keep are not re-priced — your full-week discount stays exactly as it was. Because that discount is spread evenly across your meals, a cancelled day comes back at what you actually paid for it: a $10 lunch bought at the 10% week rate refunds $9, plus any tax you paid on it. We show you the exact amount before you confirm.
Cancel every meal on a day and that day’s add-ons come back too — we won’t send a cookie to school for a lunch that isn’t there. Cancel just one child’s meal and the add-ons stay with the sibling who is still eating that day.
Inside 24 hours, the food is already bought and prepped, so give Amanda a call rather than using the app. She would always rather hear from you than have you dispute a charge.
If a day is cancelled on our end — weather, a school closure, a problem in the kitchen — you are refunded for that day automatically, without having to ask.
If your card is declined
We email and text you right away. No meals are ordered for that week, and your plan stays set up — update your card in your account and service continues the following week. You can also order that week manually until Saturday at noon.
Your card
Card details are stored by Stripe, our payment processor, and never touch Amanda’s Table’s servers. We keep only the brand and last four digits so you can tell which card is on file. Removing your card turns card billing off.
Questions about a charge?
Talk to Amanda directly — she’d much rather fix it herself than have you fight with your bank.
Prefer to order week by week? That option isn’t going anywhere — order for next week any time before Saturday at noon.
